Is society ruining Horror Movies? (Or movies in general?)

The answer is yes. Plain and simple. The fact is, our technology is leading to amazing things in the movie industry, but that could all be a waste. Society is having an amazing effect on movies being made in the Horror genre. I have had many complaints about scary movies over the past couple years, but I never really understood until now. Earlier I read an article about the upcoming movie 'Orphan'. I'm not going to lie it looks pretty creepy. But there was a part in the article that talked about how complaints were voiced by adoption agencies. Complaints that were strong enough a line of dialogue had to be taken out of the movie. The complaint was that the movies portrayed kids waiting to be adopted in a bad way. I couldn't believe what I was reading. Were they serious? It's a movie. A scary movie at that. The meaning of it is to scare people, to get their adrenaline going and jump out of their seats. The line taken out of the movie was as follows "It must be hard to love an adopted child as much as your own". I can agree that line could be taken offensive, and could potentially hurt people. But my guess is, majority of those people would understand it's a MOVIE and it's for effect. Seriously? Society is turning into some sort of PG television program. Censorship hit radio stations first, and it continues to hit hard. Are we going to start seeing this is movies also? I pay, respectively, $10 to go see a 2 hour film. I want it to be damn good for ten bucks. I don't want movies being forced to take things out to please people who can't accept the fact of reality vs. fiction. Solution? People need to grow up. I recently saw the film 'Bruno' and thought it was one of the most inappropriate things I have ever seen. I can see how people find it funny though. But it portrays gay people in a very weird way and is very derogatory towards them. This happens in a lot of movies; race, religion, sexual orientation, even gender is heavily discriminated against. But we watch them anyway. If we start censoring movies to please small groups of people, soon enough the only movies we will be allowed to watch will consist of a group of people, one of every gender married to one of every race all sitting in a room drinking water. And where is the fun in that? There is none. So people need to get their shit together. If you have a problem with something in a movie, don't see it. That's as simple as it gets.
